How to believe in buisness

speculative non fiction
audio, booklet
2023
“How to believe in business” is a speculative non fiction text written about the persona of Anastasia Hatzipapastefanopoulou the embodiment of “buisness”. Otherwise how I see myself, as a shy person and an artist, engaging with the commercial and business aspects of the art world. The text is narrated from her consciousness’s point of view. This project has as a starting point an exhibition organised by the hacking course for term 4.1 as part of the WDKA’s end term presentations. Anastasia would show up in the business fair (the exhibition space) with her ambition to turn into a business connoisseur.
She’d display her products and impress the audiences. Unfortunately for Anastasia things didn’t turn out the way she speculated. Her business drive got let down as her products were not as impressive as she expected and did not mesmerise the crowds. The three female business tycoons did not invite her for brunch and Anastasia packed her bags and travelled into the mental space where she felt free and not defined by the means of economic production. Eventually Anastasia’s consciousness gives an interview to a podcast channel, to advertise their new book.

Moirologies for Mneme
videopoetry, publication
series of two

2023
Moirologies for mneme is a videopoetry work delving out of a collection, of speculative non-fiction texts. Dwelling between dream and wake, online and offline, real and surreal. The texts have been extracted from memories, visions and dreams. Questioning the day-to-day reality and compiling a body of non-fictional empirical knowledge. Moirologies [from Ancient Greek (moîra, “fate”) + (lógos, “speech, oration”)] is a genre of songs composed in the Mediterranean to pay tribute to the deceased, and Mneme, that means memory.
The collection is called as such attributing to the short time memory gets to be remembered and thus relived in the physical reality, Indicating that memory is an entity that leaves the physical world. When this conceptual death happens, it is only remembered as time that passed. It’s not mourning lost memories but commemorating each moment that can be remembered. Moirologies to help the memories pass to their afterlife once they’ve been remembered.
Alongside the audiovisual work there’s a catalogue with the full texts and visual works of the collection

Arachnomonstera
Residency
writing, performance
2022
Arachnomonstera is a sound creating duo that seeks to keep alive its ongoing research around how everyday conversations can be coded and decoded into ochlagogy, forming an interactive environment where we could connect with more people. Experimenting around information and communication theories connected with noise and parasites. We call our art making process archiving chaos and we want chaos to be a more acceptable working method.
Our first idea was to make a “metaphysical” band, experimenting with sounds and diaries beyond the ordinary language. Apart from that we make our own instruments to form dialogues and then play with editing the sounds and experimented with a live radio set once.
We formulated Arachnomonstera while experimenting with performance in our studio space.

Re(m)branding Suie
painting, social media intervention
acrylics on canvas (a)69x55cm,(b)91x78cm
2022
This project is an intervention to the cyberspace of social media. By altering my face using a free AI software, to someone that looks like me, but is not me, I wanted to examine two effects. Will my posts reach a broader amount of viewers, since I’m presenting an anthropomorphic entity? how will the people who know me react to these images? The results were after a month that my account had more reachability than before I was posting anthropomorphic content.
As for the people who know me, they started telling me they’re confused with how I look in real life. I wanted to bring these conceptual people, artificial intelligence created entities, into the physical world, using analog means and human intelligence. Therefore I chose the medium of painting. I wanted to paint their portraits because I never before painted portraits since I always thought that they have already been getting created in the last 5.000 years. In our era though we rather have AI creating our portraits, than HI(human intelligence) creating theirs.

maomao
video performance
2022
For a long time I wanted to experiment with making a performative video about news broadcasts. I was interested in the way the media portrays the news inspired by Greek media propaganda. I wanted to gather interviews from other artists talking about surrealistic situations but I could not find the right colleagues at the time. The year was finishing and it was now or never, I had to apply this idea somehow. Working a lot around the theme of nonverbal communication at the time, and sharing a studio space with another greek speaking person, Dafni Arvaniti. We decided to run an experiment for a collective reflection video on our school year.
In the video we talk about all the parts of the academic term. We share our honest opinion in a language that is only familiar to a few in an international environment. We then we have the power to decide what we want to be understood through the subtitles and the final text. We made a piece with a very interesting language which to be understood needs to be heard, decoded and read. A Video Performance of a news report but at the same time a critical reflection on a lot of points on the education we receive and the way our tutors are treated.

Eating the words
painting, performative photoshoot
80x96cm, acrylic on canvas
2022
This painting debates it’s existance as an object of artistry and value.

List of criteria to consider an object artisinal

(✓) emotion
(✓) idea
(✓) painting or sculpture of artistic merit
(?) artistic value
(✓) object

Since all criteria of definition of an artisinal object check
out, therefore this picture is an artisinal object. Artistic
value has not yet been rendered into the object since
it has not been displayed but once it does then we’ll be
talking of an artisinal product.
List of ingridients
1. Reference picture, Camping gaz for gaslighting
2. Reference picture, Tiramissu box with the words.
3. Tiramissu
4. Photoshoot I did to produce reference picture

But this painting is rolled up and hides on top of my closet for 3 years. Does it still, remain an art object?

......more like an art abject

Anagoge
performance, creative writing
2021
Anagoge is an attempt for a collaborative networked writing process and a performance. The performance that happened in UBIK, Rotterdam for Dear Shapes in Space. Along with my colleagues we weaved the webs of an (inter)connection network that connected all three of us in the gallery space. We communicated through tropes of non verbal communication such as yoga breathing techniques and eye contact. The concept of the performance was to create an explorative microcosm contrary to the traditional performance practices where the performer stands out from the crowd.
The reason for that was to explore ways of how a shyer person can be involved in the medium of performance art. The spectator was invited to explore the secluded area, where three performers would reside. They could entangle themselves into our webs of networking, acquire magic potions and observe the making of small gateau travelling through the webs. Reminiscing and reminding them of the non verbal communication, telepathy and freedom of power structures they experienced as children. In the space they could as well find “Anagoge, a survival not guide” an on and off line booklet, open to everyone to edit about the experience through the art world as a shyer person.
